FF&E stands for furniture, fixtures and equipment, and is an abbreviation frequently referred to in architectural discussions of space. Electrical includes lighting, a major element of any design. Even though they are not specified in the acronym, FFE also includes acoustics, signage and finishes, all significant considerations in a school library.
Changing the tools = changing the environment. With the increased use of mobile devices (tablets, smaller laptops, smart phones) comes the corresponding need to change our use of furniture and space, to supply charging stations, and to grow comfortable with the noise generated by students excited about using these tools.
